Happy Thursday, Y’all !

We are two days away from Week 1 in college football and we still really don’t have a clue on who can play and who can’t. This is no way to run a railroad and it’s all the fault of the NCAA. That means it’s all the fault of the same coaches and ADs griping about the situation. Remember guys, y’all ARE the NCAA.

Today we’ll have a Louisiana judge rule on whether a small amount of players can return to college after a brief foray into the NFL this Summer. At the same time the Attorney General of Georgia is saying that if LSU plays those players the SEC should expel the Tigers from the league. Next Friday we could also find out if former Texas Tech MBB player Donovan Atwell is a current Texas Tech player after a hearing in a Lubbock court. Meanwhile a South Carolina judge ruled this week that several players could not take advantage of the 5-for-5 rule. That ain’t clarity.

The NCAA can end this once and for all and agreee to let the class of ’22 just play. There aren’t that many that will qualify and want to take advantage of it. It was a stupid hill to die on, but of course this is the NCAA. Instead of talking about college football being back, we’re having to put legal analysts on the shows. That’s a brutal way to start the season.

At least in Lubbock, things are fairly even-keel on and off the football field right now, allowing us to focus on a game and not a courtroom!

We’ll discuss all of that, Texas Tech vs ACU and visit with college sports insider and handicapper Todd Smith tonight on The Daily Broadcast.
