Happy Thursday, Y’all !

It was a rough day for Texas Tech fans on the diamond Wednesday.

#2 Texas Tech Softball started the evening off with a 3-0 loss at Texas State. It capped a six-game road swing where the Red Raiders went 4-2. Not bad but certainly not what you expect perhaps at this point in the season for a potential top national seed in the NCAA Tournament. More on that in a bit. . .

Then it was the struggling Texas Tech Baseball teams turn to ruin the mood some more. After cancelling a Tuesday night game at Abilene Christian the Red Raiders came home and gave up 13 runs to Incarnate Word in a 13-8 mid-week loss. No matter what happens from here, this will the the “technical bottom” of the season to borrow a stock market term. Tech will lose more games. Tech has now lost number one starting pitcher Lukas Pirko with an arm injury of some sort. The questions about the future of the program are more than justified.

We said we’d learn a lot about the mental state of the team this week. What we’ve learned isn’t impressive at all. We already knew about the pitching talent so that’s not new. Great hitting can’t make up for awful pitching and right now the hitting isn’t even all that great.

It’s gonna be a long four weeks.

Meanwhile back at softball.

Much more intelligent softball observers than us are saying that Texas Tech has an RPI problem. That even though they’ve been ranked in the Top 5 all season they are on the cut line to be a top 8 national seed. That would mean no Super Regional. I’m not expert but it would seem that a team good enough to be rated number one in the country by so-called experts should be a Top 8 Seed for sure.

This begs the question of the non-conference scheduling for Tech and are they having a hard time getting good teams to play them right now. For a lot of reasons. This bears watching over the next few weeks.

We’ve got all of that plus the upcoming Texas Tech Football Spring Game and much more to visit with y’all about tonight on The Daily Broadcast. Join us LIVE at 5:30 Central via Twitter/X, YouTube and Facebook. All platforms always FREE so subscribe to each one and never miss a thing.

Over, Under, Rated Right

On Thursdays, we get to rating things around Raiderland. You never know when you might get asked for an opinion on something so you need to be prepared. We’re here to help. Sometimes it’s sports, sometimes not. Today is a not.

This week, give us the most Overrated, Underrated and Rated Right George Strait songs of all-time.

Strait will be playing at Texas Tech’s Jones Stadium next weekend. Start looking for parking spaces right now! And yes, he can have overrated songs. Maybe just over-played or over-exposed, but there are some.

Fire away with your ratings in the comments and we’ll discuss tonight on The Daily Broadcast.
