Happy Wednesday, Y’all !

And so it ends, for Texas Tech Baseball; not with a bang but rather a whimper in Arizona. . .

BYU eliminated Texas Tech from the Big 12 Tournament Tuesday night 18-8 in seven innings of work ending the Red Raiders frustrating limp to the finish in 2026. Another year of sub .500 baseball ends with a 27-28 season record.

Now it’s over and now things really begin for the program. There will be massive changes one way or another. We expect a huge turnover in players. This isn’t unusual these days but this time it will be more of a purge than anything else. We expect Texas Tech to elevate in recruiting and most sites are reporting that is on the uptick right now with Texas Tech committing to funding all the scholarships available.

Of course the big question is at the top.

Will Tim Tadlock be back for a 14th season as Head Coach?

That’s really the question. Will it be his choice on the future or has that already been decided? We still maintain that Tadlock has earned the right to coach another year with the full compliment of scholarships and funding. His track-record is proven given equal resources. He’s won championships and taken Texas Tech Baseball to the CWS four times. That’s pretty damn good.

Of course, things change.

Last night after the game, D1 Baseball founder ( and al-around good guy) Kendall Rogers tweeted this:

What does it mean?

We’ll find out soon enough…

In other news, Don Williams from the A-J reporting that Texas Tech’s budget will jump by 10 million dollars thanks to the George Strait concert and the post-season play by Texas Tech sports this year. How many more times can Strait play some “farewell” concerts? We wrote a while back Texas Tech needs to use Jones Stadium like that at least 3 to 4 times a year. Can’t get Strait every time, but huge events need to be the norm. Oh ya, play in the CFB playoffs every year. That helps too. . .

We’ll talk about all of that plus the latest on Brendan Sorsby and much more tonight with y’all LIVE at 5:30 Central on The Daily Broadcast. Join us via Twittter/X, the Raiderland YouTube Channel (going for 800 subscribers this month!), and our ever-growing and engaging Raiderland Facebook Page.
