Happy Monday Y’all !
It’s a great day.
Texas Tech won easily and moved up to #21 in the rankings.
The NFL was back with a full Sunday of compelling games.
For our Dallas Cowboys friends, it was a great day. Your team couldn’t lose.
We got all of our laundry done.
And we have more NFL tonight. Life is good and welcome back football!
We’ll have a lot to get to tonight on The Daily Broadcast for sure. One thing we’ll talk about with y’all is not just Texas Tech Football rolling to another easy win, 62-14 over Kent State; but also the nearly unanimous positive reaction to the TV broadcast via TNT.
I’ve covered Texas Tech since the late 1980s. I’ve taken so many calls over the years on my shows from fans who hated the broadcasts, hated the announcers, railed against the obvious Anti-Texas Tech Bias that I’ve lost track.
I can honestly say, I’ve never seen as positive a reaction to any broadcast crew or presentation as what we saw Saturday in real-time and after the game. Folks loved the TNT broadcast. They loved J.B. Jones, Mike Golic Jr. and Allie LaForce. They even loved the camera shots. It can’t all be because Texas Tech won easily, although I’m sure that helped. The crew had to know they’d probably be calling a blow-out and it sounds like they were ready with plenty of material. Pros.

So the question, today and later on The Daily Broadcast for y’all is what was the biggest difference between this broadcast and others? What did they do different/better? Do you want more Texas Tech games on TNT? Could this be the Media Partner Brett Yormark has been hoping for to deliver the Big 12 from the evil clutches of ESPN/CBS. . . Give us your thoughts in the comments. Like we said, in all of our decades of covering Texas Tech, it’s hard to ever recall a more positive response to a TV broadcast.

Good, Bad & Ugly Monday

Each Monday we recap the weekend, Old School Williams And Hyatt Show Style. We break out the Good, Bad & Ugly categories. Some things we loved. Some, not so much. Some were just so ugly we had to look away. Whether sports or not, bring your GBUs here each Monday and fire away in the comments. Everything is fair game.
We’ll give you a few of ours this week to get things rolling. Be ready to discuss in-depth tonight on The Daily Broadcast.
G: Texas Tech RB Adam Hill. The RS FR, pride of Albany, Texas, becomes the first Red Raider to rush for over 100 yards in a game this season, going off for 127 yards Saturday in the win over Kent State. We all had Hill on our Bingo Card for that, right!
G: Texas Tech DL Skyler Gil-Howard. The Big Man got him an INT return for a TD Saturday. Is there anyone having more fun playing football right now than this man?
B: Arizona State. You gotta rep the Big 12 better if you want to be the big dog.
B: Kansas. You finally get a shot at your rival and you puke it up.
U: Kansas State Football. All is not Wells in Manhattan right now. Bottom line, losses like these from so-called Big 12 Top Teams are making the conference look bad. We’ll talk about this more tonight on the show.
OK, there’s a couple of things for y’all to chew on. Get your comments posted and report back.
