Happy Tuesday, Y’all !

We used to say that support for Texas Tech Athletics was a mile wide and an inch deep. Folks around here knows what that means and it’s not really a compliment. Tech had a lot of fans, but they dollar commitment really wasn’t there compared to other schools.

That has started to change over the last few years and really, it started changing with the hire of Kirby Hocutt as athletic director.

Monday, Texas Tech officials announced that season tickets were sold out for Texas Tech Football this fall. No shock after the best season in school history, but this is different. At over 33,400 sold, the price-point will be higher than any season on record. The revenue continues to grow for Texas Tech and it has to be football that feeds the beast these days. If football ain’t right, you’ll never truly survive. Kansas and Kentucky and Duke may be the only schools to violate that rule and their days may be numbered in the new era of college sports. Remember we said that. . .

Texas Tech is rightfully doing anything and everything to maximize revenue right now. It will be interesting to see how quickly the single-game tickets move this Fall for Texas Tech Football. What will the price points be? The Friday game against Houston will hurt, but it will be early when excitement and expectations will be high. Does Texas Tech need more money? Yep. But at least they can sleep well this summer know football is doing what it should on and off the field.

We’ll talk about that, Texas Tech Softball and the NCAA Tournament field, Texas Tech Baseball’s trip to Cincinnati to try and extend their season and much more tonight with y’all on The Daily Broadcast.
