The Saturday Column With No Name: Are Texas Tech Football Fans Afraid Of Expectations, Because Joey McGuire Isn’t….Did The Texas Rangers Just Suck Us Back Into Caring & It’s OK For Dallas Cowboys Fans To Move On

Brought to you in part by Ultra Exteriors. After the summer storms, if you need roof, window or siding repair, you need Ultra Exteriors! Give them a holler, ask for Warren and tell him we sent ya!

Happy Saturday Y’all and welcome to the Column With No Name. If you got a name for it, let us know in the comments. Otherwise it’s like riding a horse with no name….which has happened before we are told…

  1. Are Texas Tech Football fans afraid of the high expectations some have for the 2025 team? It seems like it. At least for some, there’s the old trope of “flying under the radar”, “do more with less”, “be a gritty 2-star and overcome” all of those things. From here, I think it’s time Texas Tech fans embrace the hype, embrace the expectations and expect and demand results this year. Texas Tech HC Joey McGuire has as much said the same thing. We he talks about “expectations being a privilege” that’s what he means. I’d much rather be a fan of a team expecting to win, that hoping to win. Does it matter HOW this roster was put together in 2025? Nope. The only thing that matters is that Texas Tech has a significantly upgraded talent level, plays in a conference that is winnable as evidenced by 2024 results and should be expected to win at least 9 games if not double-digit wins. Again though, do you have friends or others who don’t like the Expectations? Maybe it’s you? Tell us in the comments what you’re thinking on this second day of August when it comes to what’s fair for fans to expect this year from Texas Tech Football.
  2. The Texas Rangers made me a believer for the rest of the season that they might just have enough to run down the Astros and hold off Seattle and win the division. Maybe. The moves at the trade dead-line were calculated and reasonable. They shored up what they could shore up with good value in arms. If they can get to the post-season, their front three starters could do damage. And in this era of the short series and extended days off…that’s all you need. Dang it. The Texas Rangers have sucked me back in for August and September. And here I thought I could leave MLB behind until next year….
  3. The Dallas Cowboys predicted win total in Las Vegas and many other sports books around the country and in far away places this year is sitting around 8.5. Would you take the over? If so, why? Do you think Micha Parsons will get a new deal? (He will on Wednesday before the Eagles game and it will be far above market value… as is Jerry Jones modus operandi …) Do you think Dak Prescott will be healthy this year? Do you think the offensive line is better. Do you think the run game is better? If you answer yes to all of these questions, fire away on the over. If you answer no to any of them, welcome to a 7 or 8 win Cowboys team. Jerry thanks you though for buying the jerseys and hats, paying for the parking and driving those TV ratings each Sunday that lines his pockets more than wins do these days. It’s OK Cowboys fans, there’s plenty of well-run organizations to root for out there. Feel free to try it out. It’s fun! #ChiefsKingdom #GoPackGo #FlyEaglesFly #GoBills
