Lifts West Hotel And Condominium; Red River, New Mexico!

It’s Saturday and this column still has no name. At this point, we might as well admit, that’s the name of the column. Enjoy. Comment, Share with friends or people you really don’t know but they follow you on Twitter or Facebook… You get the Idea.

  1. Some Texas Tech fans hate Brett Yormark and the Big 12 Conference these days because of _______. You get the idea. This week though, they kinda earned the scorn by forcing Texas Tech and Houston to play on a Friday Night. Under the Lights. That’s wrong in Texas. Play that game any other state in the Big 12 and it doesn’t impact the greatest high school football land in America. Yormark either doesn’t get it or doesn’t care. My guess is that he doesn’t care and thinks that Texas Tech will drive TV ratings on a Friday night. Fair enough. Texas Tech can also drive huge numbers on a Saturday…. Tech officials from Texas Tech Board of Regents Chairman Cody Campbell, you may have heard of him, and Texas Tech HC Joey McGuire were right to come out swinging publicly on this. We applaud it. For those saying it makes Texas Tech look like they think they’re special…they’re right. Tech is special right now. That’s why the Big 12 hosed them on a Friday night…
  2. Meanwhile, what about the Thanksgiving Game this season vs TCU in Lubbock? Tech officials have lived in fear of playing that weekend for decades. We disagree. Here’s some quick thoughts on why we disagree.

  3. The Last Great American Barber Shop closed up this week in Lubbock. Here’s to you Howard’s Barber Shop on 34th and University. I’d only been going there since 1989, so I was still a newcomer to Howard. Thank you Jerry and all the other guys, long-gone, for decades of memories and friendship. If you’re lucky enough to have a great, real barber these days…cherish it. Howard’s was the last of a dying breed. We’re not better off this week than we were last week in Lubbock. That, and I’ll need a great haircut in a few weeks and have no idea where to go…

Thanks for being out there today. Enjoy the column and add your own thoughts in the comments or on Social Media. We’ll see you Sunday with our 5 Things Column!
