The Saturday Column With No Name: Top Things We Want To See Out Of Texas Tech Tonight, What We Learned About The Texas Longhorns And Arch Manning Plus Why It Should Mean More To Root For Big 12 Teams This Fall

Brought to you in part by Lifts West, Hotel and Condominium in Red River, New Mexico. Fall is coming, the river is perfect for fishing and Lifts West is ready to take care of you. Give our friend Billy a call and book your next stay today!

A few quick, real quick, thoughts on the opening day for Red Raider Football.

  1. Top things we want to see tonight? Texas Tech needs to look physically dominant on both lines. As in, Arkansas Pine Bluff looks like a solid Texas High School 6A team. Nothing less. Tech must own the line of scrimmage all night. After that, we need to see Texas Tech QB Behren Morton look 100% healthy. He needs to show he can make any throw on the field. From quick outs, to deep middle. He should have a clean pocket and needs to make it look smooth and fast. Finally, NO weather delays. Worst thing that could happen tonight would be a start-stop affair where neither team gets into a rhythm. Speaking of rhythm, hopefully the rains stay away and Pat Green gets to entertain the old folks at “Raider Alley”.
  2. Here’s what we think we know about the Texas Longhorns after their loss to Ohio State. The offensive line is not elite. Steve Sarkisian is not and never will be a “Big Game Coach”. Arch Manning looked like the guy who couldn’t beat out Quinn Ewers last year and Ewers is not an elite QB. That’s what we learned today.
  3. Looking forward to seeing TCU take on North Carolina this weekend. Sonny Dykes might have learned how to handle playing the “Hyped Coach Of The Year” after the Colorado game. We’ll take the Big 12 in this one. One thing is for sure…The Bill Belichick Era is either gonna be great or a grease fire, no in-between. I’m leaning to a grease fire, but we shall see. If you’re a Texas Tech fans, yes, root for the Big 12 teams, it only helps your brand. To make the playoff, you’re gonna have to beat respected Big 12 teams because the Tech non-conference schedule is somewhere between sad and pathetic.

Ok! That’s it for now. We’ll see y’all tonight about 30 minutes after Texas Tech and Arkansas Pine Bluff wrap on when we go LIVE on Raiderland Rewind – Presented by Live, Life, Well Clinic and Dr. Jon Skelton. Join in via X, YouTube and Facebook. All FREE! We’ll have our instant reaction thoughts and feature your great questions and comments. Raiderland Rewind might just be the longest running Texas Tech Post-Game show around! See y’all then.

  1. I got the name for the column:

    The #1 Column

Because, we the voters said so. And we know best. Trust me. We anointed ourselves as the top arbiters and gurus regarding all things sports commentary related.

Someone can’t just start throwing money around and call themselves a great column. No, we decide what is and what isn’t great. And this my friend, is a great column.

Decades of hard work, and sweat, and blood, and hot wings have forged not a Johnny come lately but a brand that remains unrivaled in it’s creativity, integrity, analysis and nite.

As for the Texas Longhorns, yawn. They would have been with Chad Powers.

    TTU – more
    APB – less
