Happy Monday, Y’all !
It was, simply, one of the biggest games Texas Tech and Houston have played in basketball in decades. both teams with a lot riding on it from NCAA Seeding standpoints and of course the meaningless AP rankings that fans love. Not y’all, y’all are smart. You don’t pay attention to the meaningless things….
The game… was epic.
One of the great games in Texas Tech Basketball history.
Seriously.
Throw out the top player, throw out the head coach, do it before the first media timeout and then go on to win in OT and snap a huge winning streak for a team that thought they’d been brought in to run the Big 12 in basketball…. ya. That’s massive. And yes, it was a great game to watch. Heard from a lot of folks around the country with no investment in Texas Tech saying how much they loved the game. If Texas Tech was still flying under the radar at the end of last week, they aren’t any more.
Here were our first thoughts after the game:
So, how high can the Red Raiders go when it comes to NCAA Seeding?
We look at HoopsHD.com and Bracketville for our best intel when it comes to projecting the tourney. Pay attention to no one else. Joe Lunardi is a fraud on ESPN. The NET rankings mean nothing when it comes to the tourney… Pay attention to these guys.
So, what are they thinking?
They’re in agreement that Texas Tech could play to a protected seed. That’s awesome. But you got to keep winning and with Baylor coming to Lubbock after a huge comeback over KU and then a trip out to Arizona, it would be an easy week. Welcome to the Big 12. As it should be.
We’ll talk about Texas Tech MBB and much more tonight on The Daily Broadcast, LIVE at 6:30 Central on X, YouTube and Facebook. Subscribe to all of our platforms, all free, and then watch where you choose. Let’s grow Raiderland tonight so invite some friends into the conversation.
See y’all then.
GBU
It’s back and it’s bigger and better than ever!
The Good, Bad and Ugly Monday topic has returned with a vengeance! The best way to recap a weekend since we launched it in the summer of 1994 on The Williams and Hyatt Show. It’s how you sort out what happened over the past few days. Some things were good, maybe even great. Some things were bad. Some things were flat out UGLY… So, that’s what you give us each Monday here on the site and then on TDB at 6:30.
So, what you got for us this week?
Here’s a quick GBU from the Home Office.
Good – Texas Tech MBB Coach Grant McCasland’s honest and open melt-down at the horrific Flagrant 2 call Saturday night against J. T. Toppin. It was raw and perfect. Gerald Myers couldn’t have done any better in his prime. The only thing McCasland needed was a jacket to throw and a tie to rip off. Which, by the way, is one reason old coaches were great. More wardrobe to destroy. Remind us to tell you about Myers ties some time…
Bad – The Pro Bowl and the NFL thinking folks will watch it. Our TV never left Food Network on Sunday in the living room. Never. No reason. Please, let’s stop the Pro Bowl and do something, anything else better. Maybe NFL Celebrity Jeopardy or just The Manning Brothers hosting Mystery Science Theater 3K and we watch Semi-Tough or North Dallas Forty all together. Something. Anything is better than the Pro Bowl.
Ugly – The growing accusations, and they remain accusations, against Baltimore Ravens Hall of Famer In Waiting Kicker Justin Tucker of inappropriate behavior with message therapists. Sound familiar Texans fans??? This story won’t go away anytime soon and I’ll make the sad prediction now that the Raven’s not-so-quietly move on from Tucker this off-season. He’s an aging kicker and won’t be worth the hassle. Sadly, that’s the reality of the NFL. If you’re a young QB with great upside, you get an amazing contract. If you’re an old player who saw regression this year at a position teams don’t care about… you get release.
OK, there’s a quick GBU for ya. Now go post your own and we’ll see ya tonight on TDB.
Ask for it by name where you shop! Great friends of Raiderland in Red River, NM!!!!
