Happy Tuesday, Y’all !
Who needs Cinderellas in the NCAA Tournament when you get great games and amazing comebacks like what we’ve seen the last few weeks with brand-names and big name programs? If we learned anything from Monday night’s final it’s that big time conferences put on big time shows. From Texas Tech and Arkansas to Houston and Duke, then what Florida did to both Tech and UH… I don’t think anybody was really missing out on Wofford or Winthrop.
Some will bemoan the death of the mid-majors and small schools due to NIL and the transfer portal.
What the SEC, ACC, Big 12 and Big 10 learned this year is they can not just breakaway from the NCAA in football, they can stage their own 64 team college basketball tournament and the country will watch. And the networks will pay.
I give it about 4-5 years before The College Basketball Playoffs come your way on ESPN or Fox.
Get ready for it.
